AI Tools for Youth Basketball Coaches
If you coach youth, AAU, middle school or high school ball, you probably don’t have a video coordinator. These tools use AI to help with practice plans, film and scouting. Here’s what each one says it does.
We haven’t hands-on tested these tools. App descriptions on each tool’s page come from the developer’s site or App Store listing. Pricing is shown only where we could see it. See how we get the data.

Where to start
- Want practice plans and film in one place: CourtLab.
- Scouting opponents with a small staff: XCIV.ai or NextPossession.
- Already on Hudl: XCIV.ai says it’s built to run alongside it.
- Players doing solo workouts at home: point them to our HomeCourt alternatives list of phone-based trackers.
FAQ
Is there a Hudl alternative for youth or AAU teams? Coaches on r/basketballcoach say Hudl can be overkill for youth teams. XCIV.ai and NextPossession focus on scouting for HS, middle school and AAU coaches, and CourtLab has a film room aimed at youth development.
Do these tools replace a coach’s judgment? No. NextPossession, for example, says a coach reviews every AI breakdown.
What do these cost? See the Price as shown column in the tables above. Where it says not shown, check the tool’s site.
